The Game

Maxsamian requires at least three players, and can be increased depending on pool size and amount of players.
The catcher or hunter (or simply the person who is "on") must have their eyes closed and thus relies on the sound of movement through the water to aid him/her in catching the other players.

Essentially, once you get the gist I encourage that you go out and try it, there's by no means a need to stick to any of the rules in here. I've just included them because through trial and error, we've found certain rules to work well.

To explain the rules of Maxsamian, imagine a game with 3 people in an average recreational sized swimming pool (e.g.12x8).
One player is the 'Hunter' (call them what you like) s/he is 'blind' (must keep eyes closed for duration of the round) and starts at one end of the pool. That persons aim is to catch one of the other two players ('prey' if you like) who start at the opposite end of the pool. These two players must keep moving at all times (trying to keep as quiet as possible) and cannot leave the pool, their aim is to reach the end of the pool at which the hunter starts, while avoid being caught before the other person. Once a person has made it to the opposite end of the pool without being caught, they can score a point by touching that end wall and saying clearly "touch 1" (or anything really, I find that having the number there makes it easier... and more amusing), they will now begin to make their way back to the wall they started at and score their second point, say "touch 2" and so forth, this is how points are scored.

Once a person is caught, that round is over (unless one is playing Build Up Maxsamian - see Game Modifications) and the winner is the Prey with the most points (however, this is not fool-proof - see Game Mods. part 3). It is up to the players on how the next Hunter is decided, by rotation, loser becomes Hunter, caught Prey becomes Hunter, or any others you can think up.

Because in Maxsamian, the hunter relies so heavily on sound, we often use trickery to try and attract attention to empty parts of the pool, or to where other prey are, but this often fails with hilarious results. Narrow escapes are often the case, and exceptions to the 'keep moving' rule for the prey are allowed when the hunter is very nearby.
Prey may choose to work together or be more competitive, we allow a bit of push and shove for added amusement.

Summary Of Rules
1. The Hunter stays 'blind' at all times.
2. Both Prey and Hunter may travel in any way through the water. (See Rule 3)
3. Prey can only travel underwater once every 2/3 (player's choice) touches. This means if Prey travels underwater before his/her Touch 1 they can only do so again before Touch 3/4.
4. Prey must keep moving along (twiddling one's thumbs and such doesn't count) at all times with exception only given when the Hunter is dangerously close.
5. Prey score points by touching the opposite wall and saying "Touch (Number)"
6. Prey can't leave the pool.

Game Modifications

1. With more people, bigger pools etc. one can increase Hunters as well as Prey. In this case Hunters could work together to end the round, or attempt to beat eachother to the first catch.
2. Maxsamian Build Up is also an option, whereby the round isn't over when the Hunter catches a Prey, it means the Prey closes their eyes and joins the hunt.
3. Because Prey might cheat by purposely being caught while they are ahead on points, you can impliment point-deduction (however high or low you think) for being caught. This might eliminate the problem if it exsists.
